After the six months, I would call them and tell them I wanted to cancel the service (downgrading wasn't an option, you just had to cancel and then sign up again for a cheaper plan). However, every time I called, they ended up offering me six more months at the promotional price again. I did this at least 4 times before I moved (and the plan wasn't available in the new area).
