I aim to spend less, simple as that. This is the one tenet for me to follow in order to save money for truly important needs, like shelter, medical, etc. I need to save my receipts and strictly adhere to a budget so I know exactly where my money is going. It’s a shame I haven’t already been doing this basic thing! Thanks for the entry!

1. Bring my lunch to work five days a week instead of four.
2. Walk to work two days a week (save money on the subway)
3. When I travel, travel more cheaply than I have in the past
4. Get books from the library more often instead of buying them

Great blog, I’m glad I found it. And I would love a subscription to WSJ! I’ve always wanted to subscribe, and this would be a pretty awesome start. Here are my entries:

#1: My 2009 financial resolutions are to double my income, to put half of all my income into an investment savings account, to eat meals at home most of the time to save money (and get healthy!), and to make at least a small profit from my creative endeavors outside of work.

In a nutshell, my financial goals include

1) reducing my mortgage debt by $20,000
2) increase passive income to >$200/month
3) increase my blog subscribers to 500
4) create a stock market portfolio of $5000 worth of researched stocks – mostly value and dividend stocks.
5) get better at researching stocks and markets!
6) increase 401K contribution by 1%
